View of Death Valley

Finally some new shots.  Ronnie and I headed to Clemson with Sadie last Saturday.  We strolled in the Botanical Garden and the took a walk along the dike beside Hartwell Lake.  There is a really nice view of Death Valley from there.

A Quiet Spot

I don't know what it is about benches that is so appealing to me. I think maybe it is because they are usually weathered from the hot sun or various types of precipitation. ( i am getting a little weathered too.) Or maybe because I like to sometimes just sit in a quiet spot. Regardless, if I have my camera and I see a bench I will be looking for a good angle for a shot.

A Solitary Bench

Quietly sitting there beneath the tree
Patiently waiting
For a woman with a book
For a child with and ice cream
For a stooped man with a heavy burden
Quietly waiting there beneath the tree
A solitary bench.

Spring Dance

Took this shot at the Clemson Botanical Garden a few weeks ago. After looking back through my images tonight noticed that it looked as though these two were dancing--thus the title. Took this with my 50 mm lens. Love the depth of field I can get with the lens but sometimes I am a bit off on the focus. Not sure about the out of focus at the bottom but it does seem to portray a bit of motion. What do you think?

Benches

Benches...for some reason a lonely bench appeals to me. Maybe as I get older it just gives me a restful feeling. Maybe because it seems to be waiting patiently for someone to sit and take a quiet moment to reflect. This bench can be found in a tranquil spot at the botanical garden in Clemson. Definitely a beautiful setting to contemplate life. Benches...just a place to sit..maybe. And for that my old body is grateful too.

Ripples

Reflections appeal to me. When I took this shot, I loved the colors on the water. After uploading it, it wasn't as clear as I had hoped. The trees are a bit too distorted. I do especially like the ripples on the water and the blue in the bottom left corner. I'll keep looking for opportunities to get better reflection shots.

Taken at Clemson Botanical Garden, February 2009.

Engaged

My daughter Meredith is getting married in May. She has been engaged for 2 years to a wonderful young man named Reese. We have the opportunity to go to Death Valley (Clemson Football stadium) to take some engagement shots. This is one of my favorites. I did some editing in Photo Shop.
