A Snowy Day

What we often see in South Carolina--snow and sunlight.  Which means--the snow doesn't last long.

Lovely Tree

Since I don't have my camera I am having to go back to some of my old shots. I just learned that my camera is back at Best Buy so I will have it tomorrow. Yeah! This is a pink dogwood in my yard that was so beautiful just a few weeks ago. It is one of my favorite trees.

Snow in March

We had snow. That is a big deal in Anderson, SC. We just don't see much snow anymore. It is also the first big snow since I really started trying to develop my photography skills. So I was outside with my camera, a rain coat and an umbrella (It was a very wet snow!) trying to use my "photographic eye" and capture a special shot. I like this one. I was trying for a shallow depth of field. I have lines like we discussed the week in class and I think the dead leaf adds texture to the shot. Today the snow is almost gone and by Saturday the weatherman says 70's. That is March in South Carolina.

Lonely Bench

I am taking a photography class in an effort to improve my shots. I took this shot at the Clemson Botanical Garden. This lone bench appealed to me sitting quietly and lonely under the bare oak tree. Winter is not my favorite season and sometimes I have trouble finding interesting material in the winter months. This shot depicted all I feel about winter. Lonely cold, little color. Possibly the shot would have been better if I had used a telephoto lens and gotten a closer shot of the bench, but I also liked the tree. 50mm lens at f/2.8 0.013 sec.
